About Us

The Town of Marengo is located in northern Wisconsin on the base of the Penokee Mountain range in the northwest corner of Ashland County on Highway 13. Sprawling with 72.4 total square miles, the majority of Marengo's land holds stunning farmland, forest, residential areas, and commercial shops. The rest of the town is made up of lakes, rivers, and streams including the Brunsweiler River, a tributary to the Marengo River. Marengo is fortunate to have the Chequamegon National Forest which is home to beautiful wildlife and scenery.

Just south of the city of Ashland, the town is near the stunning shores of Lake Superior and the Chequamegon Bay. A short drive to Bayfield and a ferry ride will put you on the famous Apostle Islands. The awe-inspiring sea caves are also nearby to explore, either by kayak in the summer or trek in the winter.

Marengo has plenty of hiking and outdoor activities itself, such as fishing, hunting, snow mobile paths and is even near the North Country Trail that stretches from New York to North Dakota. If the outdoorsman in you is not yet satisfied, there are numerous day trips, such as Copper Falls State Park in Ashland County, that may do the trick. We hope to see you soon!

What's Happening in Marengo Township?

There are a few things happening in the Town of Marengo, such as:

  • AS A REMINDER:  Please do not plow your driveways across any Township or County Roads and leave the snow burms in the road.  There is a County Ordinance for this and you could be ticketed.  So clean up those burns as they could freeze up and be hazardous to others.  The same for snowmobiles coming in or out of snowbanks, those burms can be very hazardous.  Thank you.
  • Please see the "Documents & Notices" Page as the New Permit's Pricing for Ashland County was added.
  • The Township is gathering names of people that will do Private Plowing.  You can contact Diane Eid for a list of Snowplowing Contractors.
  • Still looking for volunteers for the Marengo Ambulance Service.  If you are looking to get some EMT Schooling paid for, please contact Lance Ritola or Kurt Blakeman.
  • Michelle Johnson contacted me from Enbridge and has reached out to the Town of Marengo to advise us that she is available at any time to come answer questions about Enbridge or Line 5.  Just let me know if you would like her to come to a meeting or if you would like her to contact you.
  • It is highly encouraged to individuals within the Township to start coming to the monthly meetings so that you can stay informed as to what is going on with your township.
